While sipping a last one…

Tonight I’m really taking a last one while I write these lines , and perhaps maybe another one later because I don’t write very fast... Anyways, as the standings couldn’t have been tighter, everything was possible this week, but as is often the case , what happened was not «the ideal scenario» , especially for the first game between the Czeckers the Tomahawks who were crushed 5-1 ... Ouch!

I couldn’t say exactly what happened , except for the a great performance by Thomas Murphy better known in some circles under the pseudonym "La fusée Russe de Brossard" (the Russian Rocket from Brossard) ... He set the tone with a hat trick,  and the rest of the "Bily kun" boys (Eric Chamelot with 3 assists on those same 3 goals) did their job and handcuffed the Red’s which obviously were not the up to the task tonight, I must say in their defense that they are in "reconstruction" having lost two big players recently and it certainly did not help ....

On a positive note, they welcomed Eric Martel into their ranks who was returning to the game after several months of inactivity...

All that to say that " the league commissioner " was not thrilled to see a team take such a pounding... The trade deadline is coming soon , and there are big chances that some of the GM’s (and/or coaches) will not be pleased!

As for the 2nd game , which started pretty badly and foreshadowed another ugly massacre, it ended 6 to 4 for the Avengers that consolidated their victory by scoring in an empty net in the last minute of  a «frenzied ending» that could very well have finished in a tie, The Express coming from behind the entire game giving the " Av 's " a run for their money until the last minute. One thing to remember (and I am personally grateful to him ) is the outstanding performance by Gio Pigafetta who scored three beautiful goals including one or two "one timers" worthy of Randy Teeman’s "plays of the day " as seen on «sports night» on CTV ! ... This guy could be called  "The Italian Comet of St Leonard " or of wherever…Ho-ly Shit… is all I have to say ...

Another  "note worthy" event were the 2 penalty shots given to Dave Douville who was participating in his first LFA game… There is another guy that could definitely have a nickname with a speed connotation… tabarnak ! This guy moves on the ice ... The men in Blue were turning purple especially after the second "call" , but when a guy is so fast, what can you do, shit happens as you say «dans la langue de Shakespeare» ...

Fortunately for the Avengers he was a little "off" his game apparently ... And it seems it could be the case, having personally «seen him go» quite often (literally) ... He missed his chance on the first penalty shot but not on the second , no sir-ee...

My only regret is to not having been able to take advantage of playing with a player of his caliber ... (see the article last week ) But what the hell, Julien and Joe will be there next week and I 'll try to be more "up to the challenge" ...

The fact is we can’t always win ! I guess that’s what makes it such a good feeling when it happens !!! But then again we would all want it to happen more often than not !

Have a good week !

Fuck! With all that I haven’t even finished my beer ! Too focused on writing !  I must say it’s a Bud ( a remnant left in my cooler from Thursday’s game) no wonder it was abandoned: It tastes like shit ...disgusting!
