On Saturday night, after months of preparations, the grande finale of the Ligue Fédérale des As and fundraising event for the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation took place. It was a championship match between the Cabane Express and the Rouge Horizon Tomahawks, who easily took the game and the LFA cup. This season they won both the championship and the Tremblay Trophy as the team with the best regular season record.
It's still to fresh in the memory to do justice to all the elements that went into making the night a success, a more in-depth story will follow in coming weeks with a look at the season that brought us to Saturday's event.
For the moment, there is a lot of work in several departments left to do, including reports to the Foundation and the régie des alcools etc. . . Without forgetting the end-of-season gala that will give us one more occasion to get together before the off-season so we can hand out our individual awards.
The final tally on how much we raised for the kids has yet to be made, but I think we can be proud of what we accomplished together on Saturday. There were plenty of smiles in the stands and on the ice, and we had a festive atmosphere in the Collège Notre-Dame arena despite a rainy day.
I invite you to check out the (LFA NEWS section) under the NEWS cathegory to find out the number of the winning ticket in the draw for a stick signed by the 2013-14 Montreal Canadiens.
