ANOTHER SHOOTOUT ENDING
For the second time this season, the pub St. Paul Avengers found themselves in a draw against the Bily Kun Czechers, which, to add a little more spice to our sauce, forced the newly instituted shootout this season. Each team has three shooters followed by a fourth, fifth and so on if a tie remains, until each player from the teams shoots before returning to the first shooter. Unfortunately for them, unlike the first time facing the McCarold's Shamrocks, the men in blue did not come out the winner of the shootout that seems highly appreciated by all, even by the losing goalkeeper Claude Laroche who finds the idea very cool. Ultimately, it was Julien Staeger who scored the winning goal on the team’s first shot.
Despite several absentees, especially for the Shamrocks with five substitute players, the matches were all completed with acceptable scores of 5 "to something" (see the scoreboard for more details) that emphasizes overall a less porous defense this season and some goalies who, even if they give up bad goals occasionally, make big saves when it is time. That said, the balance in the DesBois league has not yet been reached and we are to expect a first wave of trades in the coming weeks.
For a third consecutive year, goaltender Patrick Bouchard, playing with the Shamrocks, was named the player of the month in La Ligue Fédérale des As by his peers, always being the first to obtain this honor each season. Upon his return from hunting, he will receive a gift courtesy of the LFA and its many sponsors.
Next Saturday will be our last games before the trade period and the break of October. The administrators of the LFA invite all those who have comments and suggestions about the teams or the league in general to send them to us before or during the break, so that together we build the best league there is.
Have a good week !
