HARVEY & ASPIROT SKIN THE TOMAHAWKS

Like the Canadians who had an incredible start to their season, the Acapulco Tomahawks from La Ligue Fédéral des As dominated the league remaining undefeated before Saturday’s game against the Pub St-Paul Avengers. Led by the tandem Harvey & Aspirot, Renault Sebastien’s men inflicted a first defeat to the "Red Machine, it needs to be emphasized they were missing two key players from their team; Kevin Williams and David Simon. The veteran JP Harvey and rookie PL Aspirot overwhelmed the opposing defensive front that seemed disoriented facing the agility and power of the two blue forwards who were supported by a team that was hungry for a win after experiencing tough games recently.

The opening match saw the Cabane Loggers defeat the McCarold's Shamrocks in a hard fought match in which we saw the men in black capitalize on the mistakes of the opponent at key times. However, we note that after taking a solid lead, the all black faced the heat of the "green men" who almost came back after giving body and soul in a losing cause as they could not capitalize on many occasions on what appeared to be assured goals.

To complete our roster of games on Saturday, the Vipers were rubbing the formidable Czechers that surprise since the start of the calendar even though they are often called upon to play with many substitutes. The Vipers, who got their first win last week did not seem impressed with the opponent’s pedigree, were determined to continue their victorious ways by winning in a very open game. Unfortunately for them, the victory will cost them a centerpiece of their defense corps, Phil Cyr will be out for an undetermined period with a fractured collarbone. We wish the best of luck in what happens next.

Still too early after exchanges to know their truth, we can still find that teams who had difficulties seem to be closer to the pack and that competition on the ice seems equal. It remains to be seen if other adjustments will be necessary.
