It's funny (or sad) how time flies. It was while reading an article about a company celebrating its 10th anniversary that I realized that 2017 had come and gone without us celebrating the 5th anniversary of La Ligue Fédéral des As. It shows that I do not have any children or a girlfriend to remind me of these kind of things. The league was founded in December 2012 but we are still in our fifth season of operation having started in September 2013 so we can still blow the candles and call a party !!". Without having a specific birthday date besides that of the creation of the league or its first game let's say it would be cool if everyone showed up for our grand final of May to highlight the path traveled by the LFA and finish our season in style. Whether or not your team qualifies for our championship game, it seems to me that the least of things would be to come to cheer the finalists on while participating in the excitement surrounding this event that also helps the community through our fundraising efforts for Sun Youth. In short, it is the wishes of the administration of the league for its 5th birthday.

THE LFA RUSH TOURNAMENT WILL TAKE PLACE

The LFA RUSH tournament, which will take place on February 10th as we do not have regular games that weekend, has 24 players and 4 goalies sign-up for the big day. We can still go to 6 or even 8 teams if enough players register by Sunday. The draf will be held on Tuesday, February 6th, at the LFA Headquarters. The more the merrier!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PLAYER OF THE MONTH IN THE LFA

The league administration wishes to congratulate Alexandre Boutet for having been voted by his peers the Pro-Jet Demolition player of January in the LFA. The league wishes to also mention the great play of the other rookies who were nominated, wishing them an excellent first season with us.

NEW IN THE LOCKER ROOMS

Following various requests over the years, the league is setting up a pilot project offering you some chips in the locker room at $ 1 a bag. Also you will now find "energy drinks" in the cooler. LFA administration always listens to the different ideas of its members and does its best to offer you a first rate service for an optimal hockey experience! It is in the details that we stand out!

HOCKEY AND ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS OF THE LEAGUE AMENDED

In the midst of the latest pause, the league administration reviewed its various regulations and made some changes. We invite you to take note and as a judge once told me, to say "I did not know" is not a valid excuse. Everything is there, it's up to you to stay informed.

NOBODY ON THE ICE BEFORE THE ZAMBONI DOOR IS CLOSED

As clearly stated in our regulations, it is strictly prohibited to jump on the ice before the zamboni door is COMPLETELY CLOSED. The only people admitted are referees and goalkeepers. Any player not respecting this rule will start his game in the penalty box penalizing his team. This rule was created following repeated complaints from the arena employees' union to the administration of the arena. Thank you for following this simple guideline for the good of all.

To begin 2018, I spoke to you among other things about conscience or lack off,  the crazy life we live and the insignificance in the world that seems to rule. It was while reading the column of Francis Roy, a colleague in the newspaper Hors Jeu from the Elite league, talking about a recent study done by a company called AppAnnie. This revealed that smartphone users in France spent an average of 1.5 months per year on mobile applications, the most popular being Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat and Whatsapp. Think about it. That's more than 10% (12.5% to be precise) of the year spent virtualy. on something that brings you almost nothing in life. If you add to that a normal sleep hygene, let's say 7 hours a day, well it means that the big users of smart phones spend 40% to 45% of their life on their phone or to sleep. It is pathetic. Let's keep playing hockey boys, socializing and getting together on Saturdays and Sundays. It's so much better for you.
