SALUT BOB

bob girard 1949-2017

After finishing my text of the LFA bulletin board for our journal, I learned the death of Robert Girard, a hockey friend of some of us. Bob played 7 seasons in the NHL at a time when it was rought and you had to keep your head up. I met him in the early 2000s after an accident during a friendly game where I busted my knee. Although I knew many other guys in the room it was he who volunteered with another dude to take me home as I could not drive.. Over time with his sidekick François we made travel plans and I finally joined them in Mexico in 2016 where we spent two great weeks and this well before he was diagnosed with cancer. Bob was an example in a number of ways, including physical fitness and exemplary eating habits. He was filled with kindness and warmth, a characteristic not so common thease days His smile and presence will be missed. Salut Bob !

PLAY TO PLAY OR YOU'RE OUT !

THIS KIND OF PLAY CAN PASS IN THE NHL, BUT NOT HERE. EITHER YOU PLAY CLEAN WHILE KEEPING A POSITIVE SPIRIT OR YOU WILL NOT LAST LONG IN THE LFA

After the events of the Halloween weekend and the two suspensions that resulted from them, we witnesed last weekend another display of hockey rage as a player from the Rhinos literally lost it. Like the incident before we asked for some feedback from players in his team as well as others present during the "representation" so that the Discipline Committee, the Dean in charge of those matters and myself take a decision. Following the comments collected, we had no other choice but to expel the player in question who was not at his first wrongdoings. This is the second player to be kicked out this season for the good of our members and to maintain a healthy competitive spirit in the LFA.

It's strange and I've been watching the phenomenon for years, but for some reason that escapes me, some guys who are cool off the ice and sometimes very nice become real ass holes once they put a helmet on. As if they unscrewed their brains and that their lives depended on the outcome of the game. Man, play to play, or like the other two clowns you will find yourself out of the league.

GREAT IMPROVEMENT OF THE BEER POTS

The administration of the league made the count and all the teams except one have beer pots that balance with even some teams with a surplus which is very pleasant to see and so simple when you think about it. However we must keep an eye open on the cooler in the stands which is in the red by a couple $$. Thanks for paying your due if you have forgotten to pay your beer.

THE PLAYER PHOTOS ARE NOW ONLINE .... AND A BEER TO CELEBRATE IT ALL

FORMERLY IN THE CENTRAL DIVISION PAUL is playing THIS SEASON IN THE SATELLITE DIVISION AND REMAINS AN EXEMPLARY player because of his positive attitude and work ethics.

Visit the player section to see your face and that of other members of the league. Larry voluntered a lot of hours on this section so do not hesitate to buy him a beer for all the work he does behind the scene of the LFA.

Other guys to whom you could buy a beer his Jacob of course who puts his nose and talent everywhere, Pat Blais who prepared the files for the stats and François Chartier who enters them each week. Why not buy a beer to your captain who puts in several hours off the ice during the season to lead you to victory while maintaining a good team spirit. Do not forget Lisette, our official LFA photographer and the zamboni guys while you are at it. In the Satellite division it is Jerome and Boubs who deserve a beer or two as during my many absences, it is they who run the show. There are other good guys in the gang who deserve a beer, so stick around after your games and chill with the boys in the stands. You can't buy team and league spirit, it as to be built one Saturday at a time.

YOUR SECOND PAYMENT IS DUE NOVEMBER 25TH AND 26TH

A quick reminder for those who have not paid their season in full that your second and final payment is due on November 25th or 26th.

THE AFTER GAME GET TOGETHER

This week it's going to happen at the McCarolds pub. With November getting underway, it would be cool if new faces joined us to keep the Hockey Brotherhood spirit alive that spills on the ice for some good clean fun.
