HOCKEY AT THE HEART OF OUR LIVES

It is clear that many of you dreamed of becoming professional hockey players, playing for the Habs or other teams of your choice when you were a kid. Not all, but many I am convinced. So to say that hockey is at the heart of our lives even as an adult is no exaggeration even for those with children or demanding jobs. Hockey like soccer, basketball or any team sport shapes our lives. The passion sport arouses in us even among the most cartesian thinker is remarkable and often inspiring. 

While life does not always run smoothly or go are way, hockey makes us forget all the hassles of life, the space of a game as if time stood still. The good times that we have with the boys at the arena are of the utmost importance for a balanced life. For some of you to play hockey is where you find your real self and feel the most alive. More than a sport or a religion for others, the space that this sport occupies in our lives is incredible. Whether it is the space the Canadiens occupy in the media or time spent for your own participation, not counting those who have kids playing, hockey is really at the heart of our lives and our daily routine. The happiest days of our week are often the ones when we wake up realizing it's game day! 

This reminds me of a little hockey poem of mine that I wrote one morning back in the days when I was running the SatNight Hockey Brotherhood that gave way to the creation of the LFA. Here it is in my best  franglais ....

"Sam Am : Get up, scratch your balls et réalises que c'est game day...
Check qui d'autre joue and talk shop...
Smoothy,omelette,yogurt,pasta,on check ça...
On tape son baton , you check your gear, t'écoute du AC et tu rentres dans zone...
Check up pour la ride et les lifts , your locked in to play... :)
Sport 30, sports net et hockey central pour un last pre-game boost...
Direction Notre-Dame...
Arrive a rink, jase avec les boys ,check tes lames, tape does pads, saute ça glace...
Tu te donnes au max , go for gold and play jusqu'au boute...
Game over, bière en main tu drinks avec les boys et tu te dits...méchante game !
T'arrive dans ton pub favori avec les boys, you call some grub and beer et tu regardes la balance de la game...

MUSIC AND THE 50/50 DRAW NEXT SATURDAY

Following the last game of 2017 last Sunday in our Satellite division, players were treated to music to enliven their game and a pre-Christmas post-game get together where half of the boys participated winning different prizes while putting names on the faces behind the visor of the newcomers. 

It will be the turn of the central division Saturday to receive a little Christmas gift from the management who will spin tunes during your games. A special guest should join me to give you a little "kik" to finish this slice of the season with a "bang !!!" If things work out Pierre Ferland aka Fern shoud join me for dj duties. After our games we have forty members of the league who have already confirmed their presence for our Christmas get together where a score of door prizes will be drawn with the draw of the 50/50 that is at 440$ at the moment which is a farcry from the 700$ from two years ago when we were only 66 players while we have 110 this year. With half of the league present it is likely to be a hell of a night. Note that after the grand prize draw we will use the remaining 50/50 tickets for the door prizes so don't forget to bring yours! Plan ahead and be careful because we want to see you in one piece in 2018! Nez rouge, a designated driver, a taxi, public transit or moderation are among the many options to you get home safe. Thank you to everyone who participates in the social aspect of the league that makes things cool and fun on the ice afterwards. This is the secret of a healthy league where it is good to play!

On Sunday, we will send you the list of 8 candidates for the December PRO-JET DÉMOLITION player of the month in the LFA. Thank you for participating in this aspect of your league. You will have until december 30th to vote.

NEXT GAMES TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 6TH

This season we only have one weekend off during the holidays so be ready to jump on the ice again January 6th in the central and on the 7th in the satellite.
