Terms and conditions

Welcome to the website and to the Federal League of Aces (LFA). By registering, participating in our activities, or using our services, you unconditionally accept these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Scope and Acceptance of Terms

These conditions apply to all regular players, reserves/substitutes, coaches, and LFA staff members.

  • For regular players: Online registration or payment of a deposit constitutes a firm and irrevocable acceptance of these conditions.

  • For substitute players: Acceptance of these terms is validated electronically by ticking the mandatory box provided for this purpose on the registration form before being able to participate in any match.

2. Deposits, Registrations and Refund Policy

To be considered in the draft of a division as a regular player, payment of the required deposit is mandatory.

  • Draft eligibility: No application will be processed or retained for the draft without prior payment of the required deposit.

  • Refund :

    • If a player is not selected by a team during the draft, his deposit will be fully refunded.

    • If a player decides to withdraw his application before the draft takes place, the deposit will be refunded according to the administrative procedures of the LFA.

  • Payment of the balance: Once the player is drafted as a regular, the balance of the season fees becomes due according to the payment schedule established by the league.

3. Disclaimer of Liability and Waiver of Claim (Safety and Injury)

Playing ice hockey involves inherent risks of physical injury, including but not limited to falls, collisions, contact with equipment, ice or boards, and general health accidents.

A. Waiver of recourse

By registering with the LFA (as a regular or substitute), the player explicitly acknowledges these risks and knowingly waives any legal recourse, lawsuit, claim or demand for compensation against the Ligue Fédérale des As (LFA), its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, referees, partners, as well as the owners of the arenas operated.

B. Scope of the exemption (On and off the ice)

This waiver applies to any bodily injury, property damage or moral injury suffered by the player:

  • On the playing surface (on the ice): During games, warm-ups or official events.

  • Off the ice: In locker rooms, showers, players’ benches, bleachers, mezzanines, parking lots or any other area related to the facilities used by the LFA.

C. Compliance with the Civil Code of Quebec

In accordance with Article 1474 of the Civil Code of Québec, this exemption applies to all damages arising from the practice of sport and from unforeseen accidents. The LFA cannot be held liable for any damage resulting from an inherent risk in hockey or from simple negligence related to the practice of the activity.

4. Personal Insurance and Mandatory Equipment

  • Insurance: The LFA does not provide any medical, hospitalization, disability, or loss-of-earnings insurance to participants. It is entirely the responsibility of each player to obtain adequate personal insurance.

  • Equipment: Wearing full, approved protective equipment (compliant with current standards) is strongly recommended for ice skating. The LFA accepts no responsibility for injuries resulting from wearing defective, non-compliant, or incomplete equipment.

5. Related Regulations and Code of Conduct

These Terms and Conditions apply in conjunction with all league policies. For complete details regarding the rules of the game, team management, discipline, and the structure of the LFA, players must refer to:

Ignorance of a rule is not a valid defense. The LFA reserves the right to suspend or expel any player who violates the code of conduct, without refund or financial compensation.

6. Image and Media Rights

By participating in LFA activities, the player authorizes the league to take photos and videos of him/her during games and events, and to use them for promotional purposes, dissemination on the website, social networks or any other media related to the LFA, without financial compensation.

7. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada. Any dispute arising from participation in the LFA must be submitted exclusively to the competent courts of the judicial district of the league’s head office in Quebec.

8. Changes to the Terms and Conditions

The LFA reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Players will be notified by a notice on the league’s official website. Continued participation in league activities after modification constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
