LFA Administrative Rules
Here are some points that require your attention for the smooth running of the season and the league, as well as to maximize your experience in the LFA. You should familiarize yourself with these.
RA - 01 - Seasons Calendar
The regular (winter) season consists of approximately 30 games, from mid-September to early May, including preseason games, the playoffs, and a championship game for the top two teams. The summer season comprises approximately 15 games, running similarly from early May to the end of August.
RA - 02 - Divisions
The LFA is divided into several divisions to offer playing opportunities to all skill levels of adult players.
RA - 03 - Player Evaluation
Evaluation of each regular and substitute player by their peers to put balanced teams on the ice.
During the regular season, we test new players who may be stronger or weaker than the absent player, which can impact the game and the balance of the opposing teams. It’s the league, not your captain, that finds replacements.
RA - 04 - Team Composition
New team compositions each season, with a trade period in November and December. For the summer season, transfers will take place after the third week of activity.
RA - 05 - Absences
Players must notify the league NO LATER THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE THEIR MATCH if they cannot attend their game by using the league2go.com app. This is important to give the league enough time to find a suitable replacement for the absent player.
A player who repeatedly fails to comply with this rule will be subject to a fine, suspension, and potentially expulsion from the league. Naturally, unforeseen circumstances will be taken into account, and in such cases, you must contact the number for your division as indicated in your player document.
RA - 06 - Substitutes
Regular players who are absent will be replaced ONLY by the league with a list of replacements approved by the league, to maintain team balance throughout the season and playoffs.
RA - 07 - Fine
A $30 fine will be imposed on any player who fails to notify management of their absence within the prescribed (or reasonable) timeframe or who simply does not show up for their game. This is a matter of respect for their teammates, the other participants, and the league. Repeat offenders will be subject to suspension or even permanent expulsion.
RA - 08 - Injury and Reimbursement
In the event of a long-term injury, a player (not a goalie) will be reimbursed $13.50 per game* starting with the third missed game at the end of the season. Other games will not be reimbursed. *In most, but not all, of our divisions.
8.1 Refunds: If a player wishes to cancel their registration during the season, the League Management will decide whether or not they are entitled to a refund and the amount to be refunded, depending on the circumstances and reasons given by the player. Any player who is expelled or banned will not be entitled to a refund.
RA - 09 - Penalties and suspensions
No fighting or gratuitous verbal or physical violence will be tolerated. Warnings or suspensions will be issued by the League Management depending on the circumstances.
RA-10 - Disciplinary committee
Discipline is everyone’s business. Testimonies from all players and spectators, as well as video footage, are considered by the Disciplinary Prefect and his committee, who submit a report to the Management, which will then make the final decisions in consultation with them.
RA - 11 - Disclaimer of liability
Each player will have to sign a waiver before their first game in the league in order to be able to take to the ice (regular or substitute).
RA-12 - Payment of Season Fees
Season Fee Payment: In addition to the $100 season deposit, each player must pay their regular season fees in full, or in two installments if necessary, by the dates indicated on their regular player document. Summer season fees must be paid in full in a single installment. A uniform loan deposit in certain divisions must also be paid before the start of the season and will be refunded upon return of the uniform at the end of the season. Players who do not pay their season fees on time will not be able to participate at the start of the season and will be suspended for a period of time until their fees are paid in full.
12.1 – NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) Penalty Fee: Payment of season fees through the LFA website is preferred. Players who choose to pay season fees by check will incur a penalty of fifty dollars ($50) for each NSF check and will be denied access to the ice until full payment is received by the LFA.
12.2 – Late payment fees: If payment of the season fees is not received within the prescribed period, any outstanding and unpaid amount will be charged interest at a rate of 3% per month, charged daily until the balance of the season fees is paid in full.
RA - 13 - Drinks and Beverages
No beer other than Tremblay will be permitted in the locker rooms after games or in the stands. RJ Brewers is the league’s main sponsor and one of the reasons for its success. Only Tremblay beer sold by the league is allowed in the arena*, where permitted by the arena management.
RA - 14 - Championship game
Each player taking part in a championship game will have to pay a minimum of $20 to the charity that the league supports upon arrival at the arena, otherwise they will not be able to take part in the game.
