THE AGONY OF DEFEAT

While sifting through this week’s photos, I paused when I saw the expression on the face of Eric Cormier from the Cabane Express. The headline may overstate it a bit, but, as Mimi from Bifteck said, “we’re all anxious that all their players get back in the lineup” so they can hopefully shake off their losing streak (even if they did tie last week.) Those who know Eric will say the photo depicts his usual poker face but it would still seem to represent the state of his team. I don’t want to point any fingers, but we have to say it like it is: By his own admission, their goaltender did not have a great game, and is not having a season up to his own talent level. Larry, their captain, and the rest of the lineup are giving it their all every game, but victories remain rare. The imminent arrival of a new recruit from Europe named Patrice Vichier will change the equation, believe me.

The recent trades have had some positive repercussions across the league, but parity among the teams is not among them. Injuries, with a capital I, are causing havoc. It’s difficult to consistently find adequate replacements for regulars who are missing. (this is what happened with the Express Saturday, despite a desperate attempt by LFA administration to find equivalent players.) Despite this handicap, the men in black managed to stay in the game but did not collect the two points.

We are examining the situation and we’re open to propsals for a last light shuffle of the lineups, but injuries and prolonged absences of some key players in the league could turn things upside-down again when they return. Perhaps we need to hire a fortune-teller top help us draw up the next rosters.

FRANÇOIS BOURBONNAIS ALSO KNOWN AS BOUBS FROM THE BILY KUN CZECHERS. (PHOTO LARRY )

Boubs aka The Bourbinatorwill be out for at least 8 weeks. The LFA head office as learned from a trusted source (I talked to him over the phone) that he will most likely under go knee syrgery in 3 weeks. If all goes well he could make it back for the play-offs. Best of luck my Boubs !!! Sounds weird when you say it like that.
