Knowing that there was a coach’s meeting of this Sunday , I thought to wait to until after it to write this week, but due to the nature of our game tonight, I can’t help it .
Back after missing two, saying that I was eager to play my Saturday game would be an understatement to say the least . Looking forward to joining the Express who had won handily 5-0 last week in my absence, I expected a good game, but not to be part of one in which so many records were to be established, some that will be hard to beat , even virtually impossible in some cases ... Starting with 6 goals and 3 assists for Ludovic Helias or if you prefer: 2 hat tricks for 9 points ... Ouch ! When a guy doesn’t remember many of his goals, that means everything ... Then Giovanni Pigafetta with 2 goals and 5 assists !
A sick game , plain and simple. To finish the hat trick of hat tricks , Les Perreault put 3 in…And then Patrice Vichier who finished the night with 1 goal, 3 assists ...Final Score: 12-4 ....
Just writing it still stuns me! And me in all of this? Not a shot on goal or pass recorded , no need ! Even Nicholas Chagnon our goalie has another pass to his credit ! I'm just happy to have participated in this "historical” event, I guess being on the «good» team didn’t hurt, it goes without saying ... Plus it was a return to the rink for Fern who played a Hell of a good one , and we hope he will recover and return for good ... Honestly this is too bad for the Czeckers but having been on the other side of the «score sheet» a few times this season, the Express was ripe for a good sequence , and faced a team disrupted by injuries and a few absent players for various reasons ...
In short , record of goals for a player in a game : 6, record of points for a guy: 9 , record for passes by one man : 5, record of hat tricks (by one team) : 3, most goals for a team : 12, most goals in a game : 16…I think we should not expect to see any of those broken in a near future…It’s simply just surreal…
In the second game , between the Avengers and the Tomahawks , we were witness to a duel of goaltenders and a super tight game that ended 2-1 for the Blues ( Avs ) . For my part I 've only seen a few minutes and what I noticed was Pat Bouchard, the last «player of the month» seemed to be in his groove, keeping his team in the game until the end, his Toms failing to put more than one puck in Martin Jacques Aubert’s net who played a solid one …Interesting fact; the Toms had their complete team, officially a first this year… Two very different games indeed !
What to expect next week? I can’t wait to see what will happen at the meeting tomorrow ...
In fact, I guess I will have to «sip another last one» tomorrow…
It is done ....! The meeting of the captain/coaches took place and finally after discussing the state of things in general and some administrative details as well as the future of the season and of the league while having a few cold ones, three of the teams will remain the same , the flow of available substitutes replacing the injured and absentees, The only difference being that a new regular is about to join the Czeckers within 2 weeks, as a spot was «made available» recently...
See you next Saturday !
