It seems that now that the «dust is settling» on this historic inaugural regular season, which was eventful to say the least, and on the eve of the first LFA Grand Final that promises to be an unparalleled event , the inspiration to write a few lines surfaces back after a few weeks of «abstinence».
Honestly, it's hard to be objective because I am a part of the league and my team takes part in the final and I think sometimes it complicates things for me, while in fact no one is forcing me to stay objective, I’m not a journalist ! Everyone is entitled to his opinion and I would say that all are welcome to share it on this site.
Whether it be for suggestions, encouragements, comments or questions, or simply to share your views about the league and its organization, the site of the LFA allows and encourages us to do so. At the end of the first season it is already time to start thinking about next year and I encourage you to get involved at one level or another all the more since there will be 6 teams so more work starting by recruiting new players for which «the direction of the league» gave us cards to hand out to interested guys we could meet...
I’ve known Jean-François DesBois for over thirty years, we met first on the ice , playing together and against each other and then we re-connected at university, where we began to work on our mutual student projects and then started our own production company : Scarabée Productions . Over the next few years we shot around forty music-videos as well as other projects of all kinds, which all had a common denominator ; the imagination, determination, and perfectionism of JF. (I guess that’s three) … All this to say that when he decided to start the LFA , I knew it would be a league like no other, and when he made me aware of his plans, I was wondering how he would bring all that to life. It goes without saying that I knew that I would «put my hand to the dough» (as we say in French !) one way or another... I just told myself the same thing I used to back when we arrived in the morning of a shooting with 56 million ideas, shots and scenes to shoot : With all those ideas , even if we succeed in doing just half , they will have more than their money’s worth...
Some say they want to play hockey and they do not care about the rest , sponsors, fundraisers , tickets for free beer etc ... But at the same time I can not imagine a guy who would not want to have the chance of hoisting THE Cup in his arms in front of an arena filled with people , something that has no price, plus it's for a good cause and if you're like me it is not necessarily in your habits to do something «for a cause»...
I admit it is not easy for everyone and it can seem hard to sell tickets, especially if you 're not part of the game or you're not «the salesman type» (like me), but guys are doing their best and that's what counts! What I am saying is that any contribution , however small it may be, helps not only for the big Final but also in building this league in which personally I feel privileged to play ... Yes, I know, we pay to play, but I also feel privileged I can afford to pay, but that's another story ...
Perfection is not of this world and this season was punctuated with all sorts of events that disrupted its progress to say the least , but tell yourself that it is merely a «work in progress » ... And if like me you cannot even start to imagine yourself organizing a game of «pick -up», and that you appreciate the fact that someone else organizes games for you (not to mention everything else) , and you love hockey , and even if you do not have the chance to play in the final this year, Tell yourself that the more this event will be successful, the bigger it will get next year! And who knows, at that point it might just be your turn to play for THE Cup !
