THE LFA WALL TO WALL FOR THE "PASSION HOCKEY" OPENING NIGHT !

Last Thursday was the opening night of the PASSION HOCKEY exhibition at the Pointe-À-Callière Museum. Held in association with the Canadian Museum of History, the Montreal Canadiens and the LFA who was invited to join the festivities also underlining the NHL centennial. The considerable efforts that La Ligue Fédérale des As has made in recent years to become the top adult hockey league in the country are paying off today as its CEO (myself) was invited to serve on the honor committee of the exhibition as consultant. It's not my style to talk about myself in the third person but as it was me who was there, it seems my duty to tell you about it. It goes without saying that the evening allowed the LFA to showcase itself to the media, as well as to the showbiz, buisness and hockey people gathered for this major event, as our logos, sweaters, flags and videos were used to create the ambiance. Of course we were not the focus of the evening but it allowed our league and in a way for its members to be on the big hockey stage and send a clear message that we are the top adult hockey league in Quebec! We dont do things halfway and although we have an amateur level, the league offers a professional service all along the line to the extent of its abilities for the good of all its members. Not to mention the Organisations we support as a group within the community through our multiple fundraisers.

LFA management wishes to thank all the collaborators who have helped it through the years to create a league that stands out from all other ones in any sport. Many thanks for the contribution of these men and women behind the logo, with their talents, imaginations, dedication and hard work we have achieved what would have been unthinkable four years ago. Everything is possible, you just need to believe and put the effort to achieve your goals!

NEW AGREEMENT WITH LA CABANE FOR OUR MEMBERS

founding members of LA LIGUE FÉDÉRALE DES AS that was created DÉCEMBRE 4th 2012 in MONTRÉAL and that started its operations the following fall. from left to right, top to bottom: ERIC CHAMELOT, LAURENT QUESNEL, ERIC DRAPEAU, FRANCOIS "BOUBS" BOURBONNAIS, BRENT MCGOWEN, PIERRE "FERN. FERLAND, RAYMOND HUGHES ET JEAN-FRANCOIS DESBOIS (PHOTO-MONTAGE LARRY)

The guy who writes these words and who runs the league is happy to announce that we have signed a new agreement with La Cabane du Portugal located on the Main, Boulevard Saint-Laurent for the uninitiated. From now on you will save 10% off your bill when you present your official LFA keychain before ordering and this 7 days a week! This partner of the early years is where the LFA was born through innumerable post-game get-togethers that over time became a true tradition of our Saturday nights spent together playing hockey. La Cabane is a bit like our Windsor hotel (...where the NHL was created buddy). To situate you, the Sat Night Hockey Brotherhood from which the LFA came about, started its operations during the fall of 1999. At the time the teams were formed with the sticks in the middle of the ice and the evenings finished with pitchers of beer in the middle of the table, in cinema we call that "a recurrent motif".

It was through these nights of camaraderie, of exchanging of stories and ideas that the flash of creating a hockey league came about and the idea to call it, LA LIGUE FÉDÉRALE DES AS!!!! Inspired you can be sure by the two names of leagues mentioned in the cult movie Slap Shot, with a little help from spices and some "hops" elixir of the time. In fact the idea was a running gag for I do not know how many years and when it came time to name the new entity after finally securing two consecutive ice times after five or six years of waiting, guys said and particularly Boubs « Bin là, ça fait assez de temps que tu nous gosse avec ta Ligue Fédérale des As, tu vas toujours pas l’appeler autres chose ?! I decided "to go with it without suspecting how much space this moove would take in my life and in Montreal's hockey world. Larry came-up with the LFA abreviation when doing the photo-montage and the rest as they say is history.

The moral of this story is that we live in a time of cyberdependence where the connections between individuals are more often than not through a screen without really meeting others. The After Games get-togethers organized by the LFA are a perfect excuse to break the routine, leave loneliness behind, meet new people while mixing ideas and having a good time together. Who knows maybe these nights spent with friends will give you an idea that will change your life.

THE AFTER GAME GET TOGETHER THIS WEEK

To celebrate this new agreement with this new clause that is profitable for YOU because it will now save you 10% on your bill I hope you will be many this Saturday to join me and the usual suspects for a fun evening amongst men where your girlfriends, neighbors or cousins are always welcome. This first Saturday in December will also be a great opportunity to say a big thank you to the owners of La Cabane who support us by sponsoring the Loggers for a fifth consecutive year. It's worth a toast! I also remind you that we do not have games the following weekend, so take this opportunity to join us and honor your contract! NOTE that the place is small, so to make sure we sit together, it is best that I reserve places BEFORE 2PM Saturdays. Thanks to always inform me of your presence by texting me exceptionally for this kind of stuff.

STILL 24H TO VOTE FOR THE PLAYER OF THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

You still have until Friday at noon to vote for one of our 8 candidates for the November Pro-Jet Demolition Player in the LFA. Come on, it does not hurt, takes no time and is rather cool for the winner who receives this honor from his peers. http://www.lfahockey.com/joueur-du-mois-en/

ADDITIONAL NOTE NOT TO DAMAGE YOUR SWEATER

"It is important to know when to listen and use the good pointers that will become the seeds that will make even bigger ideas come to life tomorrow". This is what I have been doing for a long time and especially since my main thing has become managing peoples leisure. Many of you have whispered suggestions to me over the years or by e-mail, ideas that have become realities and have improved the experience that the league has to offer. In this case it is Maxence, «the brick wall Frenchy», which is again playing this season with the Équipe Gagnier Météors, who mentioned to me that, according to him, washing the sweaters inside-out (with the logo and the numbers inside) would damage them less. And I think he's absolutely right and that's why now I'd ask you to wash your uniforms with this new set of rules so we look great for future seasons to come! It was Max who had submitted the idea of adopting the regulation that the IIHF proposed for 2018 not to stop play when the puck touches the net behind the goal. And you, what is your idea (or ideas) to improve the LFA ?!

SKATES FOR SALE

Brian Goolab, the friendly and energetic captain of Courval Vipers has new skates for sale, Bauer 1N 7EE. Contact him if you are interested, his number as yours if you did not know appears in the player section of our site.

STILL LOOKING FOR BLUE JERSEYS

Our Satellite division has another mode of operation than the Central, where each player brings his jersey. The LFA administration got its hands on red jerseys for the substitute players playing with the red army but nothing for those replacing with the blue men. Guys manage but it would be fun if we could have some spare jerseys. I had already requested it earlier this season but like many other things written in this journal, it has gone under the radar. So if you ever have one or more blue jerseys (and even some reds) that you are ready to give, the league would be grateful and take great care of it so that it can ensure the smooth running of its operations and happiness of all involved.
